The kites are Pegasus and Icarus. Pegasus was a flying horse that was impossible to ride and threw Bellerophon off it's back to his death (like Yuuko's bike) and Icarus made wings that allowed him to fly anywhere with ease but they melted and he plummeted from the sky (like Yuuko herself).It's a really obtuse joke but the crux is that nobody would normally fly such weird and specific kites yet Yuuko happens across them on this really awful day and it's like fate itself is mocking her.
ペガサスとイカロスの凧でしょ。ペガサスは空飛ぶ馬で、ベレロフォン（キメラを倒したギリシャ神話の英雄）を背中から振り落とし、誰も背に乗れなくなった。背中の死を意味する。（ユッコの自転車のサドルのように）そして、イカロスはどこへでも簡単に飛んでいける羽を作ったけど、その羽は溶けてしまい、空から地上へと真っ逆さまに落ちてしまった。（ユッコ自身のように）クソわかりにくいジョークだけど、最も重要なポイントは、あんな奇妙な凧を上げてる人なんて普通いないけど、ユッコは、この日に限ってそれを目にしてしまったということなんだ。それ自体が彼女を嘲笑うギャグなんだね。

Not so common that it lead to a university student's arrest who did the same thing while Nichijou was broadcast. Pranks are funny when you do it to your friend and your friend understands the joke.
一般的なギャグじゃないぞ。『日常』が放映されて同じことをした大学生が逮捕されてる。ジョークのわかる友達にやる分には、まぁ笑えるイタズラかもね。

I hate it when that happens gum stuck to your shoe and when you rip your homework.
ガム踏んだ時と紙が破ける時はイラっとくる。
Maybe Mai gave Yuuko a sand eraser, came over and used all the water, stuck the gum on the ground, painted the bench, stole the bicycle seat and replaced it with brocolli, and paid two people to sit next to Yuuko and annoy her. It would be all a big setup/conspiracy by Mai to ruin Yuuko's day.
もしかしたら、マイがユッコに消しゴムを渡して、家に忍び込んでポットのお湯を抜き、地面にガムを設置し、ベンチにペンキを塗り、自転車のサドルを盗んでブロッコリーを刺し、電車でユッコの隣に座って迷惑かけるように依頼をしたのかもしれない。これは全て、ユッコを破滅させるためにマイによって仕組まれてた陰謀なんだ。
